One thing we all learned from Hurricane (Tropical Storm) Irene was resourcefulness and creativity. I thought I would share with you how we cooked without our electric stove.
Day 1 - Breakfast
Monday morning, I was thinking about the food I needed to cook before it spoiled. After my paper route, I went to work.
Pretty impressive, eh?? Carlos thought it was dumb to cook the sausages in a pan, so I ended up putting them on the grill.
I didn't have a percolator so we cooked some coffee on the grill. (And yes, the eggs did end up hardboiled ☺)
I hate grinds in my coffee, so we strained the coffee.
The breakfast was good - a little cold because I had to wait for everything to cook - but good.
Carlos was so inspired by my wonderful breakfast that he cleaned up a gas grill I found for free. He went out and bought a bottle of propane - and it worked like a charm ☺
I still had a 1/2 gallon of milk to use up in the warming fridge, so I decided to make pancakes and oatmeal on the big grill. I put an old cookie sheet on the grill and cranked up the fire.
Day 2 - Lunch
Yummy Pesto Pizza!!!! We used the old standby cookie sheet to make this yummy meal.
When I heated up the grill, I closed the lid. Whew, that thing was like an oven!!!
Day 3 - Dinner
My dear friend Sarah invited us over for a wonderful time of dinner and fellowship!!
